FORT MADISON—The English Valleys Bears girls’ basketball team visited the Holy Catholic Crusaders on February 13 for the second round of the IGHSAU Class 1A-Region 8 bracket. The Crusaders cruised past the Bears by a final score of 49-13.

The first quarter was a hard fought defensive battle between both teams that resulted in a 7-3 Crusaders lead.

The second quarter was all Crusaders, as they out-scored the Bears 9-1 en route to the 16-4 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same as the second quarter, as the Crusaders cruised to a 49-13 victory.

Senior Delaney Hall led the scoring for the Bears with six points off two three pointers, while fellow senior Kennedy Axmear scored five of her own points.

Hall and Axmear also led the Bears in rebounding with six apiece.
