Blake Juhl To Finish Pekin Wrestling Career at State

Pekin Panther senior Blake Juhl entered the Sigourney-Keota gym last Saturday, February 11 laser focused on one thing. 

Winning the 182-pound bracket of the Iowa Class 1 District 9 tournament before him and making sure his high school wrestling career came to a close at Wells Fargo Arena after a State tournament performance. 

That goal came to be when Juhl ended the day District Champion. 

In the opening round, Juhl defeated Curtis Brown of Cardinal by pin with 38 seconds left in the first period. 

The semi finals featured a rivalry showdown with Sigourney-Keota’s Hunter Siren. A clash Julh won with another first period pin. 

After taking a 2-0 lead in the first period of the finals, Juhl capped off his day with a second period pin of Ian Udell of Regina.

Juhl heads to Wells Fargo Arena this Wednesday to compete in the State Tournament, quite the accomplishment to end his career on.
