NORTH ENGLISH—The English Valleys Bears hosted the Highland Huskies for the first round of the Class 1A-Region 3 bracket on February 9. The Bears were upset by the Huskies by a final score of 37-33.

The Huskies pounced out to a 10-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Bears bounced back in the second quarter by out-scoring the Huskies 6-3 to cut the Huskies lead down to three at 13-10. Heading into the fourth, the Huskies pushed their lead to seven at 24-17. The Bears tried mounting a comeback by out-scoring the Huskies 16-13 in the fourth, but it was not enough to surmount the deficit.

Senior Addy Westfall and junior Delanie Hall were second leading scorers for the Bears with seven points apiece. Junior Imgyn Stratton crashed the boards with Axmear, as she also hit the double digit mark with 12 rebounds.

The Bears finish the year with a regular season record of 14-8, and a conference record of 9-6.
