Keota Boys Coasts Past South Tama in First Round

KEOTA—The Keota Eagles, who currently are ranked 17th in class 1A, hosted the South Tama Redhawks on February 13 for the first round of the Class 1A-Region 6 bracket. The Eagles handled the Redhawks by a final score of 78-46. 

The Eagles commenced the game with a hot hand, as they secured a 41-24 halftime lead. The Eagles went on to out-score the Redhawks 37-22 en route to the 78-46 first round victory. 

The Eagles had four players hit the double digit mark for points: junior Sawyer Stout, junior Evan Vittetoe, sophomore Billie Kindred and junior Cole Kindred. 

Stout led the team with 19 points on 54% shooting percentage. 

Vittetoe finished his night with 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals and three blocks. 

Billie Kindred also filled out the stat sheet as he amassed 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Lastly, junior Cole Kindred scored 10 points on top of being the main facilitator for the Eagles with eight assists. As a team the Eagles shot 52% from the field.

The Eagles advance to the second round of the Class 1A-Region 6 bracket, where they will host the Belle Plaine Plainsmen on February 16.
