NEW SHARON—On January 11, the Keota Eagles boys basketball team made the trip to North Mahaska high school for a matchup of two top SICL teams. The Eagles soared past the Warhawks by a final score of 74-64.

Coming into the game, it was known it would be a shootout. The Eagles average 75.1 points off a shooting percentage of 43.7%, while the Warhawks average 68.4 points off a shooting percentage of 43.2%.

The Eagles continued to shoot the lights out, as they knocked down 13 threes with a team three point percentage of 40.6%. Three separate Eagles knocked down at least three triples on the night. Seniors Sawyer Stout and Tanner Waterhouse led the team with four threes, while junior Billie Kindred sank three triples of his own.

The Eagles came out hot once again in this game, as they stormed out to a 44-31 halftime lead. The Warhawks stormed back in the second half by out-scoring the Eagles 33-30, but it was not enough to surmount the 13 point halftime lead.

Senior Sawyer Stout led the team with 21 points. He also added eight assists, three rebounds and two steals. The Eagles had three other athletes hit the double digit points mark on the night; Billie Kindred with 15, Cole Kindred had 12 and Tanner Waterhouse finished with 12.

Junior Billie Kindred tallied a double double, as he added 11 rebounds on top of his 15 point scoring night.

The Eagles continue to stay unblemished in the loss column, as they push 12-0 with a conference record of 10-0. They will return to action on January 16, when they face a familiar foe in the Sigourney Savages.
