Lucie Wehr

1918-2021

Lucie Theresa Wehr, 102, passed away Sept. 26, 2021 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney. She was born in What Cheer on Nov. 10, 1918 to Frederick and Margarethe (Lohr) Kruger. She lived and attended school in Montezuma. On May 22, 1937 she married Raymond George Wehr in Oskaloosa. Lucie worked at the elementary school in Sigourney until the new high school was built and opened in 1968. She worked as a cook and also later as the head cook at Sigourney High School for 15 years and later at the Sigourney SEIDA Senior center for 13 years retiring in 1999 at the age of 80. She was a member of the Sigourney Christian Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, two sons Larry and Russel Wehr, daughter-in-law Shirley Wehr, four sisters Charlotte Johnson, Margaret Conner, Della Feilds, and Alfrieda Kruger, brothers Otto Kruger, Ernest Lohr, and a stillborn brother. 

She is survived by son Kenneth Wehr of Richmond, daughters Judy (Jim) Fairchild of Webster, Jan Wilcox of Sigourney, 13 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 34 great-great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Rachel Wehr.

Memorials may be made to Sigourney Christian Church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital

Burial – Pennington Cemetery
Visitation – 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday Oct. 1 at the Holm Funeral Home
