Pekin and English ValleysTrack Teams Participate in IATC Indoor Meet

AMES—The track season has begun for the English Valleys and Pekin track teams as they head to Ames on March 7 and 8 for the 2024 IATC Indoor Meet. 

It was a shining day for former state athletes, as Gage Hyne (3rd) and Kennedy Axmear (4th) finished in podium spots in the 1600 meter run and the shot put event. Pekin’s Chloe Glosser (3rd), Kayse Smith (6th) and Anna Hadley (2nd) all placed in their individual events in their first official meet since 2023 state. Glosser ran the 1500 meter run, Smith performed in the long jump and Hadley hurled her shot put. Caden Bender of the Pekin boys’ track team took home sixth in the shot put event as well. 

For team events, the Pekin girls’ 4x800 relay team took home the bronze with a final time of 10:40.56. For the boys, the Pekin shuttle hurdle team placed fourth with a final time of 35:36.
