Pekin Track Teams Pounce at Central College Meet


The Pekin boys’ team dominated the Central College Meet with seven first place finished in team relays

PELLA—On March 14, the Pekin track teams made the trip to Central College in Pella for a meet. The boys bolted to first place in seven events as a team, while the girls secured four top three finishes in their relay events.

The boys’ first place finishes came in the shuttle hurdle, the 4x800, the 4x200, the shuttle relay, the distance medley, the California Mile and the 4x400. For individuals, JaeDon Wolver finished in third in the high jump, while Will Adam took home second place in the long jump. Lastly for the boys individual events, Caden Bender took home the bronze in the shot put event.

The girls’ team took home first place in the distance medley with a time of 14:15. They also finished in second place in the California Mile and the 4x400. Lastly, the girls finished in third in the 4x200.

For individuals, Anna Hadley continued to impress, as she secured a first place finish with a longest hurl of 39-0.50. Kayse Miller took home the silver in the high jump with a highest jump of 5-01.

Both track teams will return to action on March 21 when they head to Davis County.
