Richard Peiffer

1924-2021

Richard John Peiffer 96, died Sept. 28, 2021 at the English Valley Care Center in North English. He was born Dec. 24, 1924 to Edmund A and Matilda M. Sieren Peiffer in Clear Creek Township. He attended school at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic School. On Feb. 9, 1950 he married Myra Arlene Appleget at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. Richard and Myra lived and farmed on the home place near South English since 1950.  They celebrated the homestead becoming a Century Farm in 2019.   He was a member of Holy Trinity Parishes - St. Mary’s Keota, Knights of Columbus Windthorst Council 1457 of Harper and the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded by his parents, two daughters Karen Strawn and Ann Genkinger, grandson Willis Strawn, four brothers Howard, Kenneth, Jerome and Delbert Peiffer, son-in-law Roger Fry.
He is survived by his wife Myra, son Jay P. (Connie) Peiffer of South English, four daughters Susan (Allen) Fredrickson of Alta, Meri (Jeff) Peterson of Alta, Lisa (Chris) Cowan of Ankeny, Jayne (Larry) Orris of Washington, son-in laws Calvin (Vicki) Genkinger and Bill Strawn, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

Prayer Service was held Friday Oct. 1 at 4 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota with visitation following until 7 p.m. 

Funeral Mass was Saturday Oct 2 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. Burial at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper.
