Ronald Fredrick Ahrens

1926-2023
Ronald Fredrick Ahrens, 97, died August 28, 2023 at the Keokuk County Health Center in

Sigourney. He was born July 1, 1926 near Gibson, Iowa to Fred Gottlieb and Pearl McAdams

Ahrens. He attended Sigourney High School. On February 7, 1950 he married Marjorie Ann

Weber at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. They lived and farmed west of Harper. Ron

worked for Natural Gas Pipeline and he later started Ahrens Construction in 1959. He retired at

the age of 70. He was a former member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper and a

member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney and the Eagles in Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marjorie on February 11, 2018 and a

brother David Ahrens.

He is survived by his children, Dan (Jill Armstrong) Ahrens of Iowa City; Lyle Ahrens of

Harper; Rhonda (Jon) Aller of Iowa City; Randy (Kami) Ahrens of North Liberty; nine

grandchildren, Andrew (Allye) Ahrens; Lindy Ahrens; Aliou (Tiffany) Keita; Caleb (Amber)

Ahrens; Bennie (Retha) Ahrens; Ryan (Jennifer) Aller; Alex Aller; Ashley Ahrens; and Hailey

Ahrens; three great-grandchildren, Ella Deters; Kenley Keita; and Kayden Keita and his sister

Lois Simpson of College Station, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be Friday September 1 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Prayer service will be Thursday August 31 at 4:00 P.M. at Holm Funeral Home in

Sigourney. Visitation will follow from 4:30 - 7:00 P.M.
