SIGOURNEY – Keokuk County Sheriff's Department Deputy, Adam Clark, was sworn in as the newest Board member during the Dec. 9 Sigourney Community School District Board of Education meeting. Mr. Clark replaced Ann Arduser who resigned her elected position.

Superintendent Dave Harper explained that the board has 30 days to appoint someone or it goes to an election. The board advertised the vacancy in the News Review requesting candidates complete and submit a questionnaire. Once the vacancy is posted in the paper, the community has 14 days to file a petition with the board for an election. There was no petition filed, which then allowed the board to move forward with an appointment.

“The questionnaires were reviewed by the entire board on Dec. 2 and they selected Adam from his answers he provided to the board,“ stated Mr. Harper.

The Sigourney Community School District Board of Education is now composed of Board President Steve Seeley, Mike Bensmiller, Melissa Bird, Cody Branstad, Adam Clark, Alan Glandon and Mark O'Rourke.
