SIGOURNEY – During the Jan. 22 meeting of the Keokuk County Board of Supervisors, the board approved purchasing two new work trucks at a combined price of $546,000. $191,100 of this cost will be paid for by a Iowa DOT grant, with the remaining $354,900 paid for by the county. The board approved purchasing a new Schulte XH-1500 Rotary Cutter from Greiner Implements to replace an old lawn mower purchased in 2017. The mower cost $41,350 and the old mower has a trade in value of $13,000.

The board approved an agreement to remove snow on Route G29 in Mahaska County that Mahaska County has trouble accessing due to ongoing bridge work. This road will be cleared after roads in Keokuk County. Mahaska County will be billed for labor and material costs. Andy McGuire of the Highway Department informed the board that an upcoming bill will have the state determine what order roads will be cleared, rather than the decision being up to counties.
