Tri-County Track Teams Travel to Grinnell for Indoor Meet

GRINNELL—The Tri-County Trojans boys and girls track teams made the trek to Grinnell College for a SICL Indoor Meet on March 20. 

Boys:

For the boys individual events, Josh McCulloch placed 10th in the high jump. In the shot put event, Eli Molyneux finished in 10th with a longest jump recorded at 34-01.00. Josh McCulloch also placed eighth in the 400 meter dash with a final time of 1:00.74. In the 800 meter run, Boston Roorda placed fifth with a time of 3:33.54. Lastly for the individual events, David Gillam placed 16th in the 200 meter dash with a final time of 26:03. 

For the team events, the Trojans boys 4x200 team placed ninth in the event with a final time of 1:46.60. The 4x200 team is made up of Drew Fischer, David Gillam, Eli Molyneux and Josh McCulloch. 

Girls:

For the girls individual events, Gaby Bunker placed fifth in the long jump with a longest jump recorded at 13-03.50, while Lily Randall placed eight with a longest jump of 12-09.00. Randall also finished in third in the 60 meter dash with a recorded time of 8.71. For the girls shot up event, Peyton Icenbice finished in sixth place with a longest throw recorded at 29-05.50. Grayce Williams placed third in the 400 meter dash with a blazing time of 1:13.13. Williams also placed sixth in the 800 meter run, when she finished the race with a time of 2:58.70. Grace Randall also placed 11th in the 800 meter run with a final time of 32:48. 

For the girls team events, the Tri-County girls placed second in the distance medley with a time of 5:05.75. The distance medley team is made up of Lily Randall, Ayla Hall, Aailyah Cooper and Sadie McKain. The Trojan girls also finished fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:53.57. The 4x400 team consists of Grayce Williams, Ayla Hall, Sadie McKain and Aaliyah Cooper. 

Tri-County head coach Andy Thomas spoke on how the Tri-County coaches are, “excited to see the kids compete with effort and class.” Coach Thomas went on to highlight,  

“Regardless of where each athlete starts off the year we are always striving for improvement. The teams were able to bring home numerous top 5 finishes last night in a conference that is loaded with talent.  The indoor season has been good for us to see where we are at and what areas need the most attention. We are thankful for the SICL conference and Grinnell College for allowing us to compete at such an awesome event."
