Panthers Wrestling Out of the Gate
The Pekin varsity wrestling season, which will be largely defined by a group of ten unproven freshmen, officially began last Tuesday at BGM.
The Panthers squared off in duals with host BGM, Lynnville-Sully and Sigourney-Keota, and ended the night with one win and two losses.
Al Chapman’s team took down BGM, 42-30, but fell to Lynnville-Sully, 45-24, and Sigourney-Keota, 42-30.
Freshman Keaton Baayen, Pekin’s 138-pounder, shined the brightest light of the night for Pekin, winning all three of his matches and starting his prep career with a big statement.
