Board approves aerial county photography

The Keokuk County Board of Supervisors approved of the next aerial photography contract for 2017 on Monday, April 4.

The county-mainly the Engineer’s office, the Assessors Office and GIS dept-uses these photos, taken through Pictometry Imagery in New York. Search engines like Google and Bing also use these photos for their maps, though they aren’t as up-to-date as the county. The process, which is done every few years, will take about a week to complete and cost around $97,000 over three years. The amount comes from the plane taking the photos, fuel, and processing the photos for use.
